What's reshaping compliance right now
A federal ban on intoxicating hemp
President Trump's November 2025 spending bill effectively criminalizes most intoxicating hemp-derived THC products, including delta-8, delta-10, and high-THCA products. Effective November 2026, this change could turn many of today's legal hemp customers into a serious BSA/AML risk for your institution.
Cartels are now Foreign Terrorist Organizations
Executive Order 14157 designated major cartels as FTOs and Specially Designated Global Terrorists. This dramatically broadens your exposure—the FTO statute reaches further than OFAC sanctions, with criminal penalties of up to 20 years for providing material support, and no licensing mechanism to fall back on.
AML/CFT reform is on the horizon
FinCEN's proposed rule to make programs "effective, risk-based, and reasonably designed" stayed quiet through 2025, but a final rule is anticipated in 2026. The shift from BSA/AML to AML/CFT is already being cited in exams. Is your program ready for the language—and the substance—of the new standard?
The National Priorities demand action
Corruption, cybercrime, terrorist financing, fraud, transnational crime, drug trafficking, human trafficking, and proliferation financing. Examiners expect these eight priorities woven into your risk assessment, monitoring, training, and SAR narratives. We show you how.
